Studied at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia (USA) under Leon Fleisher, Ignat Solzhenitsyn, and Robert McDonald. Alexander is currently pursuing postgraduate studies at the Royal College of Music, London with Professor Dmitri Alexeev and Professor Ian Jones. He has won international competitions: the Franz Liszt International Competition in Budapest (2011), the Tunbridge Wells Young Concert Artists Competition (UK, 2012), and the Lagny-sur-Marnes Piano Competition (France, 2013). In 2014 he took second place in the Isidor Bajic Memorial International Competition in Novi Sad (Serbia). He performs on tour in Europe, Asia, and America. His recent engagements include a tour of China, solo concerts at the Leipzig Gewandhaus, at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Copenhagen, and the National Archives in Paris. He has performed with the symphony orchestras of Philadelphia, Fort Worth, New Jersey, and Montreal among others.

Borscht... Obviously.

Don't take things too seriously.

The soul of a good piano.
If you were 80 years old, what advice would you give to young people today?
Hopefully I would say: "Live as I have done."

How do you overcome the stage fright? / What is your ritual before going on stage?
I act as if I do not have it.
When you perform... who are you playing for?
The composer and the audience.
What job would you least like to do?
Anything non-musical.
What's the "most played" non-classical track on your phone?
The Beatles – Back in the U.S.S.R (I like the hemiola).
You are on a desert island and can bring only 3 items, what do you bring?
Piano, piano tuner, coconut opener.
What is your favorite noise/sound? What is the most annoying noise for you?
Favorite: The sound of the sea. Most annoying: The incessant "wear your seatbelt" beeping in a car.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Italy.
What is the first thing you think about when you hear the word Tchaikovsky?
Concerto No. 1.
What is the first thing you think about when you hear the word competition?
Sorrow.
